Pygmalion just started vending on Cypher Market.
When I first joined and created support tickets, they were always answered swiftly. Since journalism is my hobby, I went ahead and asked them for an interview through the support ticket system.
This is their response.

When did you start working on the market and when did you first release it?

We started working on the market in October 2019 and first released it to the public on 2020/02/18.

What motivated you to create a market?

We have seen many markets come and go, all making the same mistakes. A marketplace on the darknet is no different then any other business, you should walk before you try to run. We have explicitly refrained from shady tactics of luring people to our market from day 1. Instead we chose to grow slow and steady to eventually become a noticable player in the Markets game. Running a market is not easy and requires a lot of work to just keep things running. Because we did things the way we did, we have had the opportunity to learn and recover from our mistakes before it became an issue we could not recover from.

What qualifications do you bring to your marketplace?

I am mainly working as a marketrepresentative and handling supporttickets on the market.

Why is it called Cypher Market? :D

Cypher/Cipher has many meanings, the most common ones are well known but it also means: a person or thing of no value or importance; nonentity. We are exactly that, without the buyers and vendors on our market we are just an empty shell, it is the people using our market that give it value and importance.

I noticed you're using cyrillic symbols a lot, are you Russians?

We are not Russians and do not have any connection to Russia.

What features and functions does your market have to offer?

We are a traditional escrow/FE market with the only exception of having pay per order addresses instead of wallets. Our main feature we are proud of is real market support. We are actively hunting for scammers and have a 0 tolerance policy for anything that looks shady. We could not exist without the vendors and buyers that put trust in us and we do our best to keep it that way.

What reasons does anyone have to join your market instead of others?

Fast and reliable Market support and real humans that understand that people make mistakes. Nowadays the darknet community is like highschool and if you are not bullying, you are being bullied. We miss the days of when there was a real community sense and people actually helped eachother instead of shitting all over them because they aren't doing things the way it should be done. Everyone started as a newby before they became so called experts and it would suit them if they would pay the effort that was put in them back to the community.

What kind of security do you have to protect users?

We have 2fa in place, auto-purge of orders older than 30 days after finalize date, auto-delete of messages older then 30 days, auto-delete of notifications older then 14 days. We have a system in place to check accounts for suspicious activity.

How many people are actively working for your community support?

There is 1 admin with server access who maintains and runs the market. For support there are 2 staff members that handle tickets and disputes.

What are your ideas on escrow, FE, and multisig?

With escrow you will have to trust the market, with FE you will have to trust the vendor, with multisig, you will have to trust either the vendor or the market. Because you still need 2 people in order to release the funds to the rightfull owner.

With that being said, we are working on implementing multisig so our users atleast will have the choice to use it if they wish.

How do you plan on getting more people to use your market?

We are advertising on the dread network. We believe that if the product is good, you don't have to push people to use it. We are not begging people to use our market, there are plenty of good markets and people should do their own research and go with the one they like the best.

What's your plan for the next 12 months?

Our plan is to improve the market and grow slow and steady like we did the past year, nothing fancy.

What moral philosophy does your market follow?

Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
